Product Description

From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army Knife a century ago comes the Super Tinker, a complete set of tools for campers, hikers, boy scouts, and just about everyone else. Measuring 3-1/2 inches long, the Super Tinker is stylishly cased in a timeless red housing with the familiar Victorinox logo on the side. More importantly, the unit contains more than a dozen stainless-steel and plastic tools appropriate for just about any occasion. The standard tools include a large blade, a small blade, a can opener with a small screwdriver, a bottle opener with a large screwdriver and wire stripper, and a small set of scissors. And that's just the beginning, as the Super Tinker also offers a reamer with a sewing eye, a Phillips screwdriver, a hook, a toothpick, tweezers, and a key ring. In short, there's no better accessory for camping, hunting, and fishing trips, along with general around-the-house tasks.

As with all Victorinox items, the Super Tinker is made to exacting standards, with dozens of individual parts and hundreds of steps going into its construction. Victorinox attends to every detail, from selecting the finest materials to performing the final inspection. In addition, each individual tool has been hardened in a different way to stand up to its designated use. Outfitted with a plastic housing, the Super Tinker carries a lifetime warranty.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Don't leave home without it!

I've had this knife for over a year, and I don't know what I did without it. I started carrying this with me everywhere I went, and it's helped me out more times than I can remember. I never realized just how helpful a Swiss Army knife could be until I got this. Need something cut here, need to loosen or tighten a screw there, tweeze a splinter out of my hand, you name it.
I've purchased one for my dad, and, although reluctant at first, he feels the same way I do now.
This is a definite no-brainer of a purchase, as far as I'm concerned. I'm only sorry that I can't give it more than 5 stars.
A classic!

This is a great, all-around handy pocket tool for anyone. I've had the same one for 32 years, and it still is going strong. Victorinox builds them good. :-) I gave one to my son on his 11th birthday and he is very proud of his, uses it all the time.

The Perfect Pocket Knife

I love this knife. It's very high quality and it has everything I need for 99% of my every day chores. It comes very sharp out of the box and it's easy to sharpen when it gets dull. Highly recommended for anybody who wants to carry a high quality, practical knife.
Great knife, a little big

This is a very handy knife; I enjoy carrying it. It has the best combination of tools in my opinion. Victorinox knives are superior to Wenger. The tools have a better "snap" to them.

The only downside is that it's a little on the big side. I wish they'd leave off a couple of the tools and make the other tools a little smaller, and make the whole thing smaller in the process.
I Really Like This Knife

I really like this knife because its small and has a lot.I didnt know about other types like the "camper" and the "ranger" and the huge one that i defenetly dont need.So while at walmart, shoping for camping supplies (Buy Scouts),i saw the knife section.I knew i needed one for scouts so we checked out the swiss army knives. The only ones there were the classic and super tinker. So i chose the super tinker and had my knife.I really recomend the camper or super tinker to all people who want a swiss army knive.(the only differences are the "Camper" has a mini saw enstead of mini scissors, and has a small drill enstead of a philips screw)
Very handy

I keep this pocket knife attached to my key chain. It has come in handy at work where I work in I.T. The screws and knife help me pick open boxes, get into the computers, and take apart laptops. I have not used all the tools on this pocket knife, but I'm sure one day it will come in handy.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it is not small. It's actually quite "large". I would say it is the size of your palm and not something you would want to keep on a daily key chain.

I recommend that everyone carry around a pocket knife!
An absolutely necessary tool

This is my favorite tool. I always carry one. And I keep a spare, because I do occasionally lose one. I like this model because I don't need a corkscrew. The only blade I haven't used is the "hook disgorger"--but I'm guessing that one of these days I'll need it, too.Victorinox Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker, Red
This is my 5th one

Why does nearly every pocket knife have a corkscrew? I just saw one described as a camping knife. Do you really drink a lot of wine while camping? I use the philips-head on this knife far more often than I would EVER use a corkscrew.

I use every single blade on this knife regularly, and when I loose one or break one, I buy a new one. I've had a super tinker in my pocket for nearly 20 years with only short absences while I fly (since 2001 anyway).
great knife for the money

Have had a standard tinker for about 15 years now; still in great shape except. Bought this one because they finally replaced the corkscrew I never used with a phillips screwdriver that I will use. Just the right size for pocket carry.
My Favorite Swiss Army Knife

Back in high school, I was gifted a Swiss Tinker Deluxe very much like this one. The only differences were that the old knife had a pair of pliers, and didn't have the hook. Tragically, I lost that knife.

Much to my relief, Victorinox still makes a few comparable models. I love my new Super Tinker even more than my original knife!

Here's how I use mine:

1.) Large-blade - Cut slices of fruit while I eat/general purpose.
2.) Small-blade - Opens letters
3.) Scissors - Cut paper, strings, and finger-nails (My favorite tool)
4.) Flat-head screwdriver/bottle-opener - Great for prying computer keys, and Sam Adams bottle-caps.
5.) Can-opener/mini-screwdriver - Open small cans of mandarin oranges
6.) Leather-punch/reamer - Add new holes to my belt. Takes seconds!
7.) Phillips-head screw-driver - Computer maintenance
8.) Hook - This tool is for carrying parcels wrapped with string, and for pulling tent stakes.
9.) Tweezers - Glass in the foot, slivers of wood in my hand.
10.) Tooth-pick - Don't use the tooth-pick.

I really can't recommend this knife (or many of Victorinox's other models) highly enough. If you know a young person who is just starting out, this is really a very special gift to get them up and on their way. It's a sturdy, reliable friend that they will treasure for decades.
