Product Description |
| The Swiss Army signed its first contract with Victorinox founder Karl Elsener in 1891 and released the original Soldier Knife soon afterward. Now Victorinox pays tribute to its classic tools of yesteryear with the 125th Anniversary Classic, a true ambassador for the 125th Victorinox Anniversary Collection and the most popular Swiss Army knife throughout history. The Classic offers seven implements--a blade, a nail file/screwdriver, scissors, a key ring, a toothpick, and tweezers--into a compact housing that fits just about anywhere, including in your trouser pocket, in a handbag, or in your glove compartment. Combined, the implements make this a great multi-tool for camping, emergency kits, or around-the-house use. The 125th Anniversary Classic comes in a dynamic new graphical treatment developed exclusively for this collection. The design--which includes a red body with gold accents--is inspired by the iconic logo that has marked every Swiss Army knife since 1909. When the Swiss Army signed that first contract in 1891, it wasn't just acquiring a knife--those could be obtained from master cutlers throughout Europe. What won the attention of the Swiss Army all those years ago was innovation, as the original Soldier Knife was the first multifunction knife to be developed in Switzerland. Now you can own a tribute to this piece of history with the 125th Anniversary Classic. The knife measures 2-1/4 inches closed and carries a lifetime warranty.
The 125th Anniversary Classic pays tribute to the company's most popular Swiss Army knife. |
The dynamic housing is inspired by the iconic Victorinox logo. | About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would eventually become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army knives. All Victorinox products are conceived, designed, and built to accompany users all throughout their lives. Purposeful and reliable, their functional aesthetic appeals to people's rational side, yet they also target people's hearts by consistently delivering more than they expect of them. Whatever your particular selection--from high-quality household and professional cutlery to precision Swiss-made timepieces to the company's unmistakable fragrances--each product embodies the spirit of the original Swiss Army knife. Although Elsener started producing Soldier Knives in 1891, the original Swiss Army knife dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility. |

| This is by far the best little knife ever made. I've owned many over the last 20 years, they don't break, simply excellent! |
