I ordered this item and I am very pleased with it. It is very well built and I am looking forward to testing it on the field.
This knife has all the tools that the Ranger has plus pliers for extra 30 cents - that's why I decided to buy this one - it makes it a bit thicker though. What I miss is a philips screwdriver (it seems there is room to put it, but they decided not to), but I guess I could use the flat head on most philips heads.
It's a great product and I highlt recommend it. |

| Before I bought the Handyman, I had purchased the Climber model, but wanted more tools than it offered. The Handyman contained some extra features that interested me, so I bought it and have enjoyed it immensely. Needless to say, this knife is trustworthy and durable because it is a Victorinox, but I can't say if this is the knife for you. There are many combinations of tools that are offered by Victorinox in other models, so this may not be the most useful choice for you. In my opinion, however, you get many convenient tools that can save you in many situations for a great value and in a compact form. I have had Swiss Army Knives since I was a kid and they are extremely useful wherever you happen to find yourself. My only complaint with this model is its bulkiness. It is about a third wider than the Climber and other lower end models. |
Handyman it is...

What to say, when it comes to useful objects I can't help to think Swiss Army Knifes. I've had one for about 10 years and it has been useful not only during trips but during my time in college. The only reason for me to buy a new one is that I sadly lost mine...
I recommend all kind of Victorinox Swiss Army knifes, but to me the Handyman model is the perfect combination between size and utility. It has more than you'll normally need but when you need those extra applications, belive me, you'll be happy you have them. |
Yes the corkscrew DOES work

Just make sure you don't collapse it on your finger when you are turning it.
Screwdrivers work well without dulling -- Knife blades keep and retain a sharp edge, can opener is great for the field. The metal saw is awesome, as is the metal file -- the wood saw is too -- I've been able to do some quick and fast cuts to furring strips or molding with pleasing (well, not professional, but good) results.
My only gripe and this has been the same -- with the many generations of Swiss Army knives that I have had in my lifetime -- is that spring on the scissors -- it breaks all too soon. |
Must have!

Corkscrew

| Forget Wine! The corkscrew is one of the handiest items ever added to a knife if you work with string or rope or fish line. You can use it to pick knots out of the finest lines or screw it in and get the leverage you need to loosen the knots in the heaviest rope. |
Excellent

| Bought as replacement for the old trusted one that lasted over 10 years.... that I had to leave at the security check of a public office. As good as the first one!! No way I'm going to get a chinese knockoff. |
How can I not love it?

I agree with other reviewers- this is a great product. It's really more of a multi-tool than a knife. Mine gets most of its use at burning man.
Personally, I feel that the saw and bag hook are pretty useless and should be replaced by a proper phillips head screw driver. Additionally, I'd like to see the screw drivers pull out to a 180 degree angle with the body of the knife- the 90 degree angle seriously limits their usability.
But then, everybody has different priorities in a multi-tool. |
