My personal choice for everyday carry

Review Date: December 20, 2005
Reviewer: Dennig Glasser,
This is a very versatile knife. Victorinox is my only choice in a pocket knife. I have carried this particular model knife for the last 16 years. I did have a Huntsman, but when this was stolen I inadvertantly replaced it with this one, and that is when it became a knife I carried everyday. It is thinner than the Huntsman but you only sacrifice the scissors and a hook thing but you keep the saw. I came by this model by mistake but I have found it a much better option than some of the knives with more stuff.

Also, I highly recomend the saw tool. It is awsome that something so small can cut so well. If you have never used this saw before you should try it. If you do much of anything outside, this is a great addition to the standard pocket knife fare of blades and openers.

Got what you need, when you need.

There's a reason the phrase "like a swiss army knife" is used to describe multi-function products. They are a classic, and IMHO everybody should own at least one of them. I keep one in my backpack, and car, and daypack. Never leave home without one. They are smaller than the bulky leatherman, better blades and more useful combination of tools. And the tweezers are some of the best for getting out splinters!
nice little job

We ended up buying two of these -- there are very handy, durable, and nice overall. We use them a lot, and glad we've bought these knives.

I was givin this knife when I was 9 which was 16 years ago. I carried it in my pocket almost everyday and loved this knife. It was finally put to rest after the only time I had left it in a tackle box, and some rubber fishing lures sat on top of it, melting one of the plastic sides. I guess that should be a warning with whatever material those jigs are made of.

The blade when purchased are sharp enough to shave with, after awhile it dulls (slightly) but still razor sharp, try not to "snap" the main blade to hard, after awhile it created a small dent in the edge. This can be honed out, but I just dont like seeing a dent in the edge.

I replaced it with a regular Tinker, but I miss the saw.

It still sits in a box with a melted side.

Can't go wrong as a present for the outdoorsman.
No-nonsense tool that actually works.

I have owned this for only 6 months, and so far it has been working really reall well. The only hope I have for some improvement is a real phillips screw driver.

For some reason Amazon doesn't list all of the tools/features included, so here I try.

1. Large blade. Sharp out of the box.
2. Small blade. Ditto.
3. Corkscrew. Not the best tool in the world, but works fine.
4. Can opener (also works as a small screw driver). Ditto.
5. Bottle opener (also works as a quarter-inch-ish screw driver, plus a wire stripper). Ditto.
6. Reamer with a small hole for threads. Haven't used this.
7. Wood saw. Surprisingly well designed and works well.
8. Tweezers. Ditto. It removed many splinters from my hands.
9. Toothpick. Haven't used this. Who uses this anyway?
10. Key ring.

The tweezers and the toothpick are both hidden inside the knife handle, though you cannot see them in the picuture.

All in all, this is a no-nonsense tool that actually works.

I had one of these when I was ten and it was lost or stolen somewhere along the way. I recently purchased online because I searched for the product in stores for years and never found the black colored model. Same great quality as always.
Victorinox always good

This knife is just as good as all the other Victorinox's I've owned. It can take the rough and tumble world of backpacking , camping and hiking.
