Product Description

From the renowned company that created the Swiss Army Knife more than a century ago comes the Fisherman, a complete set of tools for anglers, campers, hikers, boy scouts, and just about everyone else. Measuring 3-1/2 inches long, the Fisherman is stylishly cased in a timeless red housing with the familiar Victorinox logo sitting alongside a small fish image. More importantly, the unit contains more than a dozen stainless-steel and plastic tools appropriate for just about any occasion. The standard tools include a large blade, a small blade, a can opener with a small screwdriver, a bottle opener with a large screwdriver and wire stripper, and a small set of scissors. That's just the beginning, however, as the Fisherman also includes a fish scaler with a hook disgorger and ruler, making the tool a handy companion on fishing trips. The Fisherman rounds out its tool set with a reamer with a sewing eye, a Phillips screwdriver, a hook, a toothpick, tweezers, and a key ring.

As with all Victorinox items, the Fisherman is made to exacting standards, with dozens of individual parts and hundreds of steps going into its construction. Victorinox attends to every detail, from selecting the finest materials to performing the final inspection. In addition, each individual tool has been hardened in a different way to stand up to its designated use. Outfitted with a plastic housing, the Fisherman carries a lifetime warranty.

About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

NOT just for the fisherman

First off I need to tell you that I've carried a swiss knife since I was a kid. I have most of the styles. But this one stands out as the absolute most useful for a rather strange reason. For me since I don't fish I found more uses for this in the most unexpected area. The "fish scaler" tool is one that I would NEVER use to scale fish for no other reason than the problem of having to clean it thoroughly, too much work. But this tool I have used more than any other on all my knives. I've used it to open ceiling hatches to change office lights, pick locks. to measure things (something you need more often than you think), to reach into thin areas to clear debris or push a switch and most of all as a back scratcher. Since there are no sharp edges on the scaler it's perfect to scratch those areas one can't reach. That's not to ignore all the rest of the tools this knife offers which I use except for the absurd "parcel hook". This tool is useless and yet Victorinox continues to install it on many knives. The only useful task I've found for the hook is to tighten one's laces on my boots when I snow shoe. Anyone else found something useful for the parcel hook? Please post it if you have.

I had to surrender a 30 year old copy of this knife at the airport security checkin because I forgot to pack it in my checked luggage.
I was on vacation for two weeks and felt naked without it. I ordered this replacement as soon as I got home.
I take this knife everywhere wether its work or a formal gathering.
It is rugged and indespensible.
What more can I say.

One of the best utility products I can count on every ocasion (except for airplanes, never try to sneak one with you on the plane, or you'll never see it again, home security you know). Use it with a belt pouch like the Lockblade Belt Pouch - Cordura from Swiss Army or the Victorinox Knives Medium Pocketknife Belt Pouch - Nylon from Victorinox or the Wenger Ballistic Pouch - Nylon from Wenger.

A terrific accessory for all kinds of things.

This classic knife is amazingly useful. The scissors are particularly handy, and I also find myself using the Phillips head screwdriver accessory all the time. I always have one of these stashed on my boat, and it sees hard use. Highly recommended. RJB.
Great addition to my tackle box.

This "tool" has become a must have in my fishing tackle box. Can't imagine being out on the water without it! Comes in handy for all kinds of situations involving rods, reels, lures, line. Every fisherman should have one in his box!!
Loved it!

I bought this for my boyfriend for a gift. (considering we go fishing 3 times a week.) And we've already used it numerous times. Even on household things. It's come in handy many times and we love it.
Nice Item

This was for my 10-year old grandson, who is an avid fisherman and quite competent with knives. He did have a little problem opening up the knife, but I suggested WD-40 and he loves it!
